Feijoada is a typical dish of Brazilian cuisine, originating in the region of influence of African slaves in the country. It is a black bean stew with a variety of meats, usually including jerky, sausage, paio, pork ribs, pork ears and feet, and bacon. The ingredients are cooked together in a large pan, with seasonings such as garlic, onion and bay leaf, and served with side dishes such as white rice, farofa, sautéed cabbage, orange and vinaigrette. It is a very rich and tasty dish, and is usually served on special occasions or in restaurants specializing in Brazilian food.
In Estonia, you can find Feijoada exclusively at Café Brasil, in our Daily Dishes menu. Feijoada may seem like a typical winter dish, but in Brazil it is served weekly regardless of the season.
